In my last blog post, I discussed the different functions various chords have within each musical key. In this lesson, we’ll be looking at dotted rhythms in music. You may remember from earlier lessons about the basic note values: there are two eighth notes in a quarter note, two quarter notes in a half note, and two half notes in a whole note. For a dotted half note, I could make a 2:3 duplet of quarter notes, since 2 quarter notes in the time of 3 gives the same duration as a dotted half note.
